ICT Trees is giving away free native shade trees to Wichita residents, with priority going to households in low-canopy neighborhoods on the north and northeast sides. Each tree comes with a bag of mulch and a one-page care guide covering the first two years.
Trees are first-come, first-served. We typically have bur oak, eastern redbud, and roughleaf dogwood available, though species vary by what's in stock. Plan to arrive early if you have a preference. Most distributions are done within two to three hours.
No registration required. Just show up, talk to a volunteer, and we'll help you pick a tree that fits your yard. If you have questions about what species works best for your space, bring a rough sense of how much sun the planting spot gets.
